St. Augustine Writers Conference

October 2-7

“This was by far the most illuminating, inspiring writers workshop I’ve ever attended. The benefit came not only from the outstanding faculty, but also from the high caliber of students selected to participate.” John Koenig, 2013 participant

Located in the nation’s oldest city, the St. Augustine Writers Conference is a small, intimate, workshop intensive Conference designed to insure our participants gain the full breadth of our faculty’s knowledge while building an enduring and supportive community with their writing peers.

The 2014 Conference offers workshops in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. We will also offer a two-hour session on screen adaptation.

Craft talks, readings, and more round out this comprehensive, boutique conference open to twenty-four participants.

Our goal is to bring together writers with varying strengths, styles, and needs in a nurturing, supportive environment.

The 2014 St. Augustine Writers Conference’s  preeminent faculty includes poet and memoirist Sascha Feinstein; short story writer, novelist, and memoirist Connie May Fowler; and short story writer, novelist, and essayist Laura van den Berg. Guest lecturers include editor Parneshia Jones, screenwriter and producer Allan Marcil, and former president of Paramount Pictures David Paul Kirkpatrick.

Our manuscript workshops, readings, discussions, panels, and opening and closing dinners will take place in a beach home with 360 degree views of the Atlantic Ocean, the  Guana Preserve, and the Tolamata River. We are only five minutes from the heart of St. Augustine’s Historic District.

St. Augustine is a walking city with a plethora of lodging options, from frugal to opulent. In addition to the historic charm of the Ancient City with its myriad of culturally significant sites such as the Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Mose, the area boasts some of Florida’s most beautiful beaches.
